Strut mounts and shock absorber mounts cushion the impact between the strut and the vehicle. As your car goes over bumps and potholes, your suspension will push and pull vertically on the strut mount, which will absorb and insulate these moments. This reduces vibration, noise and rebound.
Although shock absorbers and struts are actually different suspension systems, their mounts are often simply referred to as “shock mounts”. In fact, most strut mounts are incorrectly referred to as shock absorber mounts. Strut mounts also support the weight of the vehicle and help to align the tires to the ideal road contact position. Many strut mounts have a bearing or a bearing plate, which serves as a steering pivot. This is critical to the smooth steering and handling. You will either have two strut mounts in your car (front left and right) or four strut mounts in your car (front and rear left and right). You will know when your shock and strut mounts have failed, as they will transfer excessive vibration and noise to you as the driver and your passengers. It is safe to assume that if your strut assembly or coil springs are worn out, your strut mounts need to be replaced too. As with all our parts, Mchanix uses high quality materials such as virgin natural rubber and high quality graded bearings to manufacture premium quality strut and shock absorber mounts that isolate NVH, to support great driving comfort and vehicle safety. |
